1. week – Montevideo
A week with a warm-hearted host family in the city center offers an authentic glimpse into everyday life – including half-board and countless meaningful encounters that will stay with you long after the journey ends. An intensive language course with 16 hours per week at a renowned language school helps you make real progress while encouraging intercultural exchange on equal footing. As a cultural highlight, a guided city tour of Montevideo rounds out the experience – led by a english-speaking guide. Historic neighborhoods, lively markets, music, local cuisine, and sharing a traditional maté give you a true taste of Uruguay’s unique spirit.
2. Week – surrounding Maldonado
Next, spend a week in a modern apartment in elegant Punta del Este – the perfect base for excursions and exploration. A city tour with a english-speaking guide brings the highlights of Punta del Este to life – including the famous sculpture “La Mano”, the spectacular bridge of La Barra, the coastal promenade Rambla, and selected local museums. You'll also enjoy a variety of day trips, such as visits to the weekly market or a traditional estancia, walks through nature reserves in the Maldonado area, exclusive wine tastings, or local community events.
3. Week – Rocha & "the future"
A few days on a traditional chacra (country estate) offer a deep dive into a simple, nature-connected lifestyle. Agriculture and self-sufficiency are experienced firsthand – through horseback riding, nature walks, and workshops focused on sustainable living. The final days are all about integration and future planning. This phase offers space for reflection and preparing your next steps.
